Jaap Bos is Professor of Banking and Finance at Maastricht University. His work has been published in the Journal of Business, the European Economic Review, the Journal of Development Economics and the Journal of Banking and Finance.

His research interests include banking, growth and development, productivity and efficiency and innovation. He started out as a central banker, and was involved in the design of the Basel II Accord on bank regulation. He has served as an advisor to the Netherlands Competition Authority, Dutch Parliament, the UN, the province of Limburg and various financial institutions.

He has executive teaching experience in risk management, productivity analysis and impact analysis. He is a member of the council of the Scottish Economic Society, and on the Steering Committee of the Impact & Sustainable Finance Faculty Convening. When not in his academic role, he straps a fly rod to his travel bike, grabs his camera and takes the ferry to Scotland.
