Before receiving a PhD in Economics (Collegio Carlo Alberto, Italy), Umberto worked as an attorney and consultant for international intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental associations active in the defense of fundamental human rights. He is currently post-doctoral fellow in Economics and Econometrics at the University of Verona. He is an applied legal-economist, cofounder of the Journal of Law, Market & Innovation, and collaborator in a Horizon2020 project and Jean Monnet Module. Most of his research agenda is devoted to quantitive analyses of judicial institutions and legal actors. Among those there are, inter alia, lay assessors, international criminal judges, lawyers, prosecutors, and policy-makers.
