Samantha Bielen is core management group member, leader of workgroup 1 (definition of the ‘judicial production process’ and data collection), and coordinates communication with the sector.
Samantha has a PhD in Law (University of Antwerp) and in Economics (Hasselt university). She received a postdoctoral fellowship of the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) in 2016 and is assistant professor (Hasselt University) since 2017. Samantha performs multidisciplinary research mostly in topics related to (civil and criminal) litigation and crime. Her fields of interest are Law and Economics, Economics of Crime, Economics of Litigation and Judge Behavior. Among other things, she has worked on projects for Belgian courts and prosecutor’s offices and the Belgian Ministry of Justice.
